NIH Weekly Vigils
NIH current and fired staff are fighting to keep the mission alive by engaging the general public in poignant and theatrical vigils as protest. Since May 2025, we have been gathering every Saturday at 10 am at the Medical Center Metro to commemorate and mourn the losses resulting from cuts to funding, programs, and people that have been both discriminatory and indiscriminate. The vigils provide a weekly outlet for addressing new developments and explaining actual and potential impacts of policy changes to the general public. These efforts supplement other ongoing avenues of resistance and communication that collectively seek to Garner support within the agency and beyond for life-saving research so critical to the NIH mission.
