The Human Impact of NIH Cuts & Delays: Bringing Hidden Consequences to Light

Storytelling is a powerful tool to communicate important messages to the public. We dedicate this page to highlighting the stories of people (anonymously or named) who experienced the consequences of disrupted research, including grant terminations, funding delays, forced application withdrawals, grant reinstatements, censored science, and/or withdrawn competing applications.

We welcome additional firsthand accounts from anyone in the research ecosystem: patients, caregivers, study participants, community advisory board members, scientists, and research staff.

History must be recorded and the public needs to learn about the devastating harms to the biomedical research communities and the broader public, including loss of discovery, innovation, treatments, and cures. We hope the impacts of these stories will reach the hearts of all those who read them.
