WHAT: Health care workers, patients, caregivers, and researchers will rally on Saturday, September 26, to say “enough is enough” to the Trump administration’s deep cuts to health care and assaults on science-based policy. The SOS for Health rally will be held at the Medical Center Station in Bethesda.
This rally comes at an urgent time because the most vulnerable recipients of care under our health system are set to lose essential benefits. On October 1, 2026, lawful permanent residents who have been in the U.S. less than five years including refugees, those given asylum, and victims of human trafficking will lose Medicaid benefits. On January 1, 2027, most U.S. citizens on Medicaid will have new work requirements and will need to be recertified every six months.
In addition, the Trump administration continues to attack health research and health policy. Scientific expertise has been replaced with political censorship and the public face a tidal wave of misinformation from the Federal leaders charged with protecting their health.
