Probationary Impact
In February 2026, probationary federal workers who were unlawfully terminated in 2025 designed a survey. The survey responded to a lack of available data surrounding the termination of probationary workers and used the one year mark as an opportunity to assess how these terminations impacted individuals' lives. Many of these experiences have received limited attention as subsequent reduction in force (RIFs) have occurred, as well as additional actions from this administration. The final data analysis and visualizations are now published on 27 UNIHTED’s website.

This page is dedicated to highlighting the stories of individuals, anonymously or named, with grant award terminations, funding delays, forced withdrawals, reinstatements, and withdrawn competing applications.
Also welcome are firsthand accounts of consequences due to delayed grant awards such as the firing of research staff including trainees, delayed or halted clinical trials (patients, we would love to hear from you!), hiring freezes, negative effects on experimental studies, etc.
