Our Losses
Probationary Impact
In February 2026 a survey was designed by probationary federal workers who were terminated in 2025. The survey responds to a lack of available data surrounding the termination of probationary workers and uses the one year mark as an opportunity to assess how these terminations impacted individuals' lives. Many of these experiences have received limited attention as subsequent reduction in force (RIFs) have occurred, as well as additional actions from this administration. The final data analysis and visualization will be published on 27 UNIHTEDs website, an organization founded by fired probationary and RIF'd NIH employees.
Biohealth Beats
This page is dedicated to highlighting the stories of individuals, anonymously or named, with grant award terminations, funding delays, forced withdrawals, reinstatements, and withdrawn competing applications.
Also welcome are firsthand accounts of consequences due to delayed grant awards such as the firing of research staff including trainees, delayed or halted clinical trials (patients, we would love to hear from you!), hiring freezes, negative effects on experimental studies, etc.
