Jennifer Troyer, PhD

Dr. Troyer is a firm believer in basic research as an important avenue of discovery and is dedicated to building a healthy and productive research ecosystem that supports evidence-based healthcare and healthcare policy. She is excited to work with 27 UNIHTED on science advocacy, working to support the scientific workforce, maintain a vibrant and diverse non-partisan civil service, and ensure high-quality, publicly-funded science for the public good.

Throughout her career, Dr. Troyer has managed complex collaborative research initiatives. With more than a decade of leadership in genomics research administration and global health initiatives, in her current role at Genetic Alliance she strengthens partnerships across sectors and expands initiatives that connect genomic research with patient communities.

Previously at NHGRI, she led efforts to coordinate research funding, policies, and programs supporting genomic science worldwide. Dr. Troyer oversaw grant portfolios focused on comparative genomics, genome function, and bioinformatics and played key roles in major global programs such as the Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa) initiative and Enabling Discovery Through Genomics (EDGE), in collaboration with the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Troyer earned her PhD in genetics from the University of Connecticut and her BA in biology from Earlham College. She completed postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute and Colorado State University.
