“I really enjoy doing science and leading research projects. I have a strong desire to lead a research lab, to mentor the next generation of scientists and make discoveries that improve health.”

Your Emotional Journey.

“The funding provided by external grants such as MOSAIC are a pipeline to being a competitive applicant for Assistant Professor positions. The termination of MOSAIC and other transition grants may prevent otherwise qualified researchers at academic institutions from being competitive for Assistant Professor positions with an independent research lab. The termination of MOSAIC and other grants may result in young professionals having to give up on life-long dreams and it will result in the loss of jobs in labs. These consequences are dependent on the heart of individual departments and colleges. This is an extremely competitive field. Sacrifices have been made to stay on the path of this dream to be an independent investigator.”

Your coping strategies.

“I go to bed at night, wake up the next morning and repeat. I keep moving forward and do the best I can with what I can control. I remain grateful.”
